Avengers: Secret Wars has moved from 7 May 2027 to 15 December 2027. Marvel confirmed the change in a schedule update on Wednesday, without commentary.
This is not a production problem. It is arithmetic.
Doomsday moved first
When Doomsday moved from 1 May 2026 to 18 December 2026, it compressed the gap between the two films to under five months. The two are shot back to back and share a substantial amount of the same cast and the same post-production pipeline. Five months was never going to be enough for the second film's visual effects.
Moving Secret Wars to December restores a twelve-month gap and puts both films in the release window Marvel has had the most success with.
What it means for Phase 6
Phase 6 now closes a year later than originally planned. That has knock-on effects for everything scheduled behind it, and Marvel has not yet said what those are.
- Doomsday — 18 December 2026, unchanged
- Secret Wars — 15 December 2027, moved from 7 May
- Everything after — undated
Our release tracker reflects the new date, and the timeline has been updated to match.
Is this a bad sign?
No — and it is worth saying plainly, because date changes get reported as trouble by default. A film moving to give its effects team more time is a film being managed properly. The version of this story worth worrying about is a date change announced three months out, not eighteen.
