Thor

Thor is the only founding Avenger to appear in every team film and come out the other side still in the fight. He has lost a hammer, an eye, a kingdom, a brother and a mother, and the character has been rebuilt around each loss rather than reset.

By Doomsday he is the closest thing the roster has to institutional memory — the one person who was there in 2012 and is still standing. Against an antagonist whose threat is partly magical, he is also one of very few heroes who has fought sorcery before and won.

Marvel confirmed Hemsworth at the SDCC 2026 announcement. He is one of the few returning names the studio named outright rather than leaving to reporting.
