Captain America

Sam Wilson took the shield without the serum, and that distinction is the whole character. Steve Rogers could out-fight anything in the room. Sam has to out-think it, and the films built around him have leaned into that gap rather than papering over it.

He arrives in Doomsday as the Captain America of record — not a successor still proving the point, but the person the role now belongs to. That matters for a film whose premise is three universes colliding, because it puts a man with no enhancements at the centre of a fight against gods and sorcerers.

What the marketing has been careful not to answer is whether he leads. An ensemble this size has room for exactly one person giving orders, and Marvel has not said who that is.
